The delivery time for the Armi active chair mechanics was reduced by almost three months

In the fall of 2023, cooperation with Tamergo Oy and Brione began. Tamergo is a Tampere-based company that manufactures ergonomic chairs, whose brand is familiar to many as “Armi-aktiivtuoli”. The chair is a Finnish innovation that has been helping seniors and the elderly to improve their quality of life for over twenty years.

A large order challenged production

Brione and Tamergo's collaboration began when Tamergo's creative director Petri Palo-oja received a tip from Brione, Skill Hill Oy's Mika Nurmesniemi. Tamergo had received a large order from Hong Kong. The order would basically empty Tamergo's entire warehouse, and therefore more chair mechanics would have to be quickly obtained from somewhere. Delivery times from domestic suppliers were about 3-4 months. The reason for this was that Tamergo's supplier brought the mechanics from China. Tamergo therefore set out to find a more agile partner. Brione fit this picture perfectly.

A sticky beginning turned into smooth collaboration

According to Petri, the first contact with Brione by phone was a bit sticky until they found out what it was all about. It was only when Petri visited Brione's factory to get to know and introduce the Armi chair, its technology, and especially the challenges related to the locking that the collaboration slowly started to warm up. The lunch break was allowed to move on when Brione became enthusiastic about the chair's mechanics and its development. The idea of improving the chair began and two Brione designers took it upon themselves to develop the Armi active chair. This is how the so-called “Re-design” process began. You can read more about Brione's product development here.

Delivery times dropped from three months to a few days.

Re-design is a word that means taking an existing product and redesigning it. This aims to achieve various benefits, for example improving durability or usability, speeding up the production process or reducing costs. The long delivery times of the Armi chair mechanics were one of the biggest reasons why Tamergo started redesigning its product with Brione.

Results of the collaboration

Although the collaboration between Tamergo and Brione is just beginning, the results are very promising.

  • From the previous delivery time of 3-4 months, Brione is now able to produce new mechanics for Tamergo in 3-4 days.
  • According to Petri Palo-Oja, the cooperation also increases Tamergo's credibility in the market, because the quality factors of the product and the reliability of delivery are at a higher level than before thanks to the partnership.
  • The product has been improved so that it is more versatile, safer and the mechanics now easily adapt to different needs. Tamergo itself calls the developed mechanics "the new heart" around which they are building a new product family.
  • The new type of mechanics opens up new market areas in addition to the current ones, such as hospitals, operating rooms and all public spaces in general. This is due solely to the possibilities brought by the new lock.
  • The final precise clarity on production costs has not yet been obtained, but in these respects production will be more affordable compared to the previous cooperation with a domestic partner who brought the mechanics from China.

In addition to these benefits, Brione is particularly pleased that the work has been moved back to Finland. The Armi active chair is an even more Finnish innovation, whose Finnishness is touching new records. Not everything needs to be produced in China, but there are partnerships in Finland that can develop your own operations to a completely new level. Together we can grow!

Brione thanks Tamergo for the good cooperation so far, and we also hope that the Armi active chairs will continue to conquer the world.

We look forward to following Tamergo's growth and development!
